From the Bisco Smith 'World Upside Down' gallery collection
World Upside Down is a collection of observations, commentary, and attempts to make sense of today’s world—a moment in time where systems are collapsing and social fabrics are shifting. A time when the train of progress continues to gain speed, moving us faster and further into the unknown...
The fifty plus pieces in the collection are a blend of photography and fine art created using a mix of mediums. The grainy black and white imagery combined with subtle grey tone textures are finished with a clean high gloss resin creating both a literal and metaphorical contrast. The artwork is urban in nature transporting viewers over train lines, through abandoned industry, against decaying walls, and into explorations reflecting modern social issues. As a collective montage or as individual images, the artwork serves as a window into a world upside down.
The Collection was originally exhibited at Low Brow Artique in Brooklyn, NY (August 9 - September 7, 2013)
