We recently met the prolific producer, DJ, and newly established music video director, Computer Jay, at our monthly Sunday afternoon party, Beat Tape. He passed us along Volume 1 of his 4 part album, Savage Planet Discotheque, a highly recommended collection of warm, crunchy beats, sci-fi inspired textures and samples, along with a few vocal melodies straight from the soul of the 70s. We inquired a bit more about what he’s up to and what is to come.
Director Ryan Palmieri has recently come on board to help spotlight Daylight Curfew artists. To kick things off he’s pointed the lens to experimental electronic punk, Turnbull Green. Last year’s El-P-produced Killer Mike record, R.A.P. Music, saw it’s fair share of critical praise, leaving fans hungry for more. The melding of El-P’s hard hitting beats from Brooklyn found a perfect match with Killer Mike’s politically charged Southern flow. There was one problem, El-P only appears once, the album’s ninth: “Butane (Champion’s Anthem)”. Well don’t get too down because the duo just posted a snippet from their newest project, Run The Jewels, a project where they’ll share time on the mic while El-P continues to handle the album’s production. The track, “Banana Clipper”, appears on El-P’s Soundcloud and announces this Summer for the album’s release. Dive in and get a taste of what’s headed your way from this dynamic duo.
DJ Synapse and Black Scale just dropped a mix titled Mind Games. Synapse always comes correct with the skills and the selections. Check out the mix and definitely keep an ear on Synapse.
New York / Paris producer Chaze just dropped a fresh new video, directed by Jay One and titled “This Was Your Town” featuring Casey Mecija. Set in Paris, infamously known as the City of Light, exposes viewers to a raw and more urban side of Parisian streets. To better illustrate his vision, Chaze enlisted the vocal talents of Casey Mecija and artist Jay One, pioneer of French Graffiti.

A new track surfaced yesterday from Dfalt’s soundcloud. The new music, titled “My Mind When She Told Me”, featues Dfalt’s classic use of chopped vocal samples, dusty drums, and haunting melodies. Given the name of the track, this is your chance to experience what it sounds like in Dfalt’s head.

Brooklyn’s own Rabbi Darkside recently jumped off a kickstarter for his a new project ‘Prospect Avenue’. We believe they give to the community endlessly, and its about time for them to receive that energy. Only so they can turn around and once again deliver that goodness back to the people.
